Detoxification

I’m going to come right out and say it: I was wrong. For the longest time I would have people ask me about “detox” and “detoxing” and I would kind of dismiss it because our bodies are absolutely brilliant at detoxification. In my old line of thinking, I thought, “Eh, there’s no need to do any ‘detox’ because your body is always working on it.” Well, at least 100 hours of research and study later, let’s just say I’m better informed.

My main beef with mainstream “detox” procedures was that it was a hype method for unqualified, unlicensed people to sell very expensive products when they had no state or federal regulation or qualifications and therefore no professional prescribing responsibility or liability for whatever happened to their customers.

Back to DETOX——Yes, our systems are great at detoxing, but unfortunately they have become so overburdened that there’s a backlog. Picture an inbox on someone’s desk piled 10 feet high. Sure, your liver would like to clean your blood, but it’s having a hard time because the gallbladder below it is sludgy and it’s slowing down processing. Our skin, lungs, lymphatic system, our large intestine/colon, our liver, and our kidneys are the detox pathways for pesticides, heavy metals (not the fun music kind), random chemicals we put on our skin (hello, nasty nasty chemical sunscreens), and dairy, food additives, etc. Our colon is even the way we get rid of most of our excess hormones.

If we are not having regular bowel movements, good bile flow, a decent but not crazy amount of water, a diet full of fiber through fruit and vegetables, light exercise, regular skin exfoliation, some sunshine……then those detox pathways are blocked, and the backlog of work begins.

SO WHAT DO WE DO? There are many approaches we can take. First, we figure out what your personal toxic burdens are, including excess emotions. We formulate an acupuncture, supplement, herbal, cupping, nutritional therapy plan that will work to gently detox you so that you don’t feel like you got hit by a truck. We even have a ready-to-go 5-day acupatching package to begin the process at home if you’d like. Gentle does not mean ineffective. Slow and steady wins the race and leaves you coming out shining. Please email me if I can help you with detoxification. I’d love to be of service to you!
