For issues such as trigeminal neuralgia and Bell’s Palsy, acupuncture can be great help….and it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to have needles stuck in your face. Not being able to comfortably brush your teeth or smile because of these conditions respectively makes a huge impact on our daily lives. The sooner you seek acupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia or Bell’s Palsy, the better your outcome will be! This doesn’t mean that there is no hope if it’s been a few years, we may just need more treatment more frequently and herbal medicine to try to open up and soothe those channels.
If you suffer from tension headaches, cluster headaches, migraine headaches, or frequent headaches, you do not have to suffer these forever! Acupuncture is fantastic at treating headaches of all types and getting to the bottom of what is causing them. As a former migraine sufferer who spent enough time in the dark with a cold rag on my forehead and a garbage can next to the bed, I feel for you. Be ready to open your mind, commit to a regular treatment schedule for a few months and to make changes to your lifestyle and you can get your life back.
Dental pain/toothache, bleeding gums, Sjogren’s dry mouth, and bad breath—-It’s surprising to many people that acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can treat these. For acute (recent start) toothache pain, yes we can minimize the pain but you MUST have a dentist appointment scheduled. The risk of heart damage from tooth infections is very serious.
This is why we want a moist mouth with healthy pink gums; it’s another barrier to infection. Dry mouth and bleeding gums can be helped with a few acupuncture treatments, an herbal mouth rinse, and some internal herbal formulas, as well as some tuina (massage) techniques on the jaw.
Bad breath comes from the mouth or the stomach or both. Assuming your mouth has no particular decay, we work on your food therapy, make sure the valves of your stomach are working properly, harmonize anything that may be disrupting your digestion, and keep you on herbs for a month or two until this has been remedied.
TMJ/Jaw pain—-I don’t know about you, but wearing a mask + stress has REALLY affected my jaw; so much so that the tiny muscles above and behind my ear began to twitch and wake me up at night! The tightness in our temporomandibular joints is also causing neck pain and tightness and even ringing in the ears (tinnitus) in many people. Plan on a couple treatments a week, some gua sha or cupping, likely some internal herbs, and a lesson on how to massage your own jaw so that you can keep helping yourself.
Do you suffer from Sinus problems and Allergies? Even pretty severe sinus infections can be treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine. There are definitely dietary changes to be made and herbs to be taken besides just the acupuncture treatments, but if you are diligent for a few months, you can feel amazing.
