The technique descriptions below are here to give you an idea of what they are and how they are used. Not every technique is used on every patient. Techniques are done as needed and appropriate for the patient at that time.

Acupuncture

This is the part most people are familiar with——tiny, flexible needles are inserted into acupuncture points in the body in order to restore blood flow, remove stagnation, boost production of stem cells, calm and regulate the nervous system.

We say that we use the needles to “move Qi”. For a helpful but loose translation, you can think of Qi as oxygen or energy.

This 2-for-1 treatment uses tiny needles to address your particular concerns, such as sagging jowls and eyelids, forehead wrinkles, brown spots, ropey neck, & more while also improving your physical and mental health. It is the only beauty treatment that can make that claim.

While many say that they perform facial acupuncture, it is often nothing more than a few extra needles stuck in acupuncture points on the face. Nothing gets results like the completely customized, specialized facial acupuncture here. I work very hard to perform the best facial acupuncture in San Antonio. Battlefield Acupuncture

This treatment uses 10 needles, 5 on each ear, to stimulate what is known as the Battlefield Acupuncture points. This protocol was developed by the Air Force to reduce pain by at least 2 pain levels in 80% of patients.

These points work no matter where the pain is, because they reeducate your brain about how to process pain.

Can be done with ASP needles that stay in for 2-10 days (little gold nubs), or regular acupuncture needles that we remove before you leave. Includes 10-minute guided meditation.

Gua Sha

A great folk medicine technique to move stagnant blood out of an area, relieve muscle tension, and even help you get over a cold. This can be done with a Chinese soup spoon, jar lid, or special jade gua sha tool. When done on the body, bright or deep red marks show. These usually go away in a day or two. This is the basis for Graston Technique. The gentle jade gua sha used in facial acupuncture does not leave marks.

Moxibustion

Moxa is the fluffy growth on the underside of mugwort leaves. It has unique properties in deeply warming injured spots, relieving achy joints, and increasing the strength with which certain points can boost the body’s function. The moxa can come in many shapes and forms and is burned in a very safe manner over certain areas of the body.

Cupping

Seen on celebrities and pro athletes, cupping is a fantastic way to restore blood flow to an area of the body and to relieve tension.

There are also very specific points on the body that can be cupped in order to speed detoxification.

Cupping often leaves circular marks that can last a week, depending on the circulation of the patient at the time the myofascial decompression is performed.

Lancet Acupuncture/Wet Cupping/Bloodletting

While this sounds like something scary or from the 1800s, nothing could be further from the truth. Like moxibustion, bloodletting is actually one of the three sections of acupuncture. Modern lancet acupuncture involves getting out a few drops of blood, most often from a tiny spider vein. In fact, in the case of varicose veins, simply bloodletting the small spider veins around them can greatly reduce their appearance and discomfort. (Varicose veins are never bled.) Many patients find great and instantaneous relief with this technique.
